Our core principles

Everyone deserves to be celebrated, and we are all better people when we learn from others who aren’t like us.

How we manifest this:

For our employees:

- Commitment to interview gender and racial/ethnic minorities for every role
- Remote-friendly, flexible schedules allow us to better support parents, people with disabilities, and quality of life for all employees
- Our jobs never require a college degree (either you can do the job or you can’t)
- Strong anti-harassment and discrimination policies
- Clear feedback on areas of strength and development—and how to improve

For our founders:

- Our applications aren’t based on anyone’s judgment of if you’re “good enough” or if your idea is “cool enough.” All we need is to make sure the numbers work. We’re not worried about if you fit anyone’s ideal of what a founder “should” look like.

Inclusion

Everyone should have as much information as possible to make the right decisions as easily as possible.

How we manifest this:

For our employees:

- Communicating early and often so others are never surprised by big changes
- Seeking input from others to gain new perspectives to inform our thinking
- Giving info for interviews upfront to set candidates up for success
- Sharing information here about our policies and benefits!
- Full transparency about company goals, strategy, etc., so you can decide how it applies to your area of ownership.

For our founders:

- Sharing all loan terms before you even talk to us, including having a human-readable version, not just the legalese
- Providing in-depth FAQs and questionnaires to help founders determine the best funding options for them—even if that means it’s not us

Transparency

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness and given a voice.

How we manifest this:

For our employees:

- Leaving egos at home so we can focus on collaborating to find the right answer, rather than trying to have our answer win.
- Being vulnerable and sharing ideas and work early (see transparency) because we know we’ll be treated with kindness and not criticism.
- Creating space for everyone to give input at the right times, rather than allowing the biggest personalities to dominate the conversation.
- Assessing problems and best paths forward without pointing fingers at others.

For our founders:

- We're here to answer questions you have about how to get your business off the ground in a judgment-free zone so you can get the help you need.

Respect

Who we want to work with

We’re still really early, which, not gonna lie, means we work hard and wear a lot of hats. We’re looking for people who are smart and talented, but more than that, are driven and willing to figure out lots of new and weird problems as they pop up.

We want people who can keep their ego in check to get to the right answer rather than their answer, who are committed to transparency so everyone has the information they need, and who know how to disagree respectfully so we always hear contradicting opinions. They can go heads down and work on their own to get shit done, know when to ask for help or input rather than getting stuck, and they probably also love the thrill of collaborating and brainstorming with a team as you address problems or explore big new ideas or maybe just get a little bit silly at times.

People who are committed to making a difference in the lives of our founders and creating an inclusive environment at work will fit in great—we can't help our amazing founders who come from all walks of life without first having a diverse team to understand all their needs and build something that works for them.

Who we want to work with

Benefits

We offer unlimited PTO, but we also have generous leave policies in place to help you navigate some of life’s larger events and make sure you don’t accidentally work yourself to burnout.

Paid time off

We have a lot of holidays off because we acknowledge that the frantic pace of a startup makes it difficult to take time off because there’s always something that feels critical. That means that times when the whole company is fully off to be able to relax and refresh are that much more important—and our summer and winter breaks where we close down for a full week are especially critical in helping everyone come back refreshed.

- MLK Day
- President’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth
- Summer break: week of July 4th
- Labor Day
- Indigenous Peoples Day
- Election Day
- Day of Thanksgiving + day before and after
- Winter break: Week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s

Company holidays

Parental leave applies to both parents regardless of gender, and applies to birth, adoption, surrogacy, or new foster children. And if you end up in a situation where you’re not able to work temporarily due to medical issues, we don’t want that to have to be the end of our relationship.
